Save Ryde

I need your help to Save Ryde from being a State Government target for over development.

  • Between 2014-2018, 63% of all dwellings in Ryde were approved by the Liberal State Government
  • The Liberals have imposed an enormous 7600 new dwelling target on Ryde, to be delivered in 5 years.
  • From 2011, State Government dominated planning panels have approved more than 50 developments comprising of more than 10,000 dwellings in Ryde. Download the full list here.

The Hon. Victor Dominello

Member for Ryde

Dear Mr Dominello,

You and your government have targeted Ryde with over development for too long. Our schools are full, our roads are clogged and State infrastructure just isn't keeping up.

We demand that you abolish Priority Precincts in North Ryde and Macquarie Park and that you exempt Ryde completely from your State Government Medium Density Housing Code.

Regards,

A concerned Ryde Resident

Eastwood is fast becoming a hot dry treeless place due to council permission to cut down every living thing to make room for some development So sad to see the ruin of once peaceful beautiful suburbs. No such thing as moderation!

There are too many multi-storey buildings in Ryde already. The infrastructure is stretched to the limit and so is the residents’ patience. We’ve had more than enough. This overdevelopment is in no-one’s interest except that of the developers.

I know how I will vote in the coming state elections !!!

    Very sincerely indeed,

    Lynne Moffat.

Please create a balance between the private development and state housing, as did all previous gov/ts before 1960.Consider to stop migration, to allow rental market to cool down, to make the life of this areas’ residents worth living. At this stage we don’t feel that we are in our country anymore.

I have lived in North Ryde for 42 years an I know what I’m feeling and seeing. I am mostly a Liberal voter and I’m disgusted and suffocating in the overdevelopment of our Suburb! You have ruined it! Absolutely ruined what we had. It’s too late now. What are you going to do, pull all those ugly towering apartments down? Stop it NOW!!

These developments are a consequence of too many people. Migration is too high. Labor’s policies support migration so this “Save Ryde” issue is stupid unless all political parties aim to reduce migration, including Labor.

    Quote from Labor’s policy:

“Both permanent and temporary skilled migration are important to sustainable economic growth.”

If we have to build so many apartments to house more people, this isn’t “sustainable economic growth”. It’s just economic growth for the sake of it and reduces the livability of our cities.

The Australian Government must enforce the Anti-Money Laundering Legislation for the Real Estate Sector; shelved for more than a decade; again in early 2018!

The FIRB needs to be flushed out; a stop must be put to the developer STING allowing them to sell 100% of new homes to foreign buyers.

A stop to VISA MANIPULATION to gain residency upon property purchase; a child as young as 6 can buy several new homes or one established home through a Guardian Visa; ditto the Guardian

A stop to the loophole whereby foreign visa holders can buy an established home; demolish it for a “new home” and gain residency having outbid Australian First Home Buyers.

Foreign money is being laundered in Australian Real Estate. It arrives here through Hong Kong etc.

This flood of foreign wealth locked Australians out of home ownership!
